Parent Involvement

It is a priority for Dreams Unlimited and parents/caregivers to work as partners, ensuring a positive experience for the entire family.

Listed below are a variety of possibilities for building our relationship and giving the parent/caregivers the opportunity to be involved as much as possible:

• volunteering or visiting to read a story or to do a presentation about a special skill, talent, or occupation,
• sharing information about a special event or cultural celebration,
• newsletters,
• parent resource board,
• Christmas party
• lending library,
• collecting beautiful “junk” to be contributed to the centre,
• parent information sessions (where topics will be based on parents/guardians needs and interests),
• parent-educator interviews,
• assisting in field trips,
• fundraising for equipment, toys, supplies, etc., and
• coming to the Centre and eating with your child

Parent Advisory Committee

The purpose of the committee is to create, inspire, and lead mutually supportive relationships between families, educators, and community that enhance quality early childhood experiences and community connectedness.  We are currently looking for members from families who have children enrolled at Dreams Unlimited.  If you are curious or have questions about the parent advisory committee please come see Elizabeth.

Formal Observations

Formal observations are held on a regular basis.  The staff use a variety of documentations (written records, photos, video, etc.) which are collected to do a portfolio (progress report) on each child.  The portfolio looks at all developmental areas of the child.  Every November and May, the educator and parent/guardian meet to discuss the child's stregnths, challenges, and interests.

Our Parent Handbook
